"How" to play boogie-woogie

The book:
This 64-page book with CD includes:
Chapter 1: Basic chords, turnarounds, left/right hand patterns, grace notes and slides, passing chords and syncopation.
Chapter 2: Shuffle (bounced) and duple time, chord progression, glissando, grace notes and pentatonics.
Chapter 3: New Orleans style: 7th chords, tritones, "stop" turnaround, harmony/melody, 7th, scale change, dissonance and gumbo boogie.
Chapter 4: Broken bass: arpeggiated passing chords, reduced bass line, four note boogie, syncopated bass line and solo intro.
Chapter 5: Rock "n" roll: 6th/7th's, 11th chords harmonies and moving bass lines.
Chapter 6:Turnaround Blues: harmonic changes, broken octave pattern and 10th's.
Chapter 7: Break stop boogie*
* The good:
It includes a CD.
It's pretty new as it's published in 2000.
It spoon-feeds you the different parts/styles of the boogie.
* The bad:
The CD. You hear a band with a keyboard. The band appears to be the same looped synthesizer stint on all the songs, with it's VERY annoying endings. At first I thought this was a CD on how to play a synthesizer sounding harmonica. I even checked if I had the right CD. It turns out that the author/musician of this book (Bill Worrall) is a keyboard player. Boogie does not sound right on a keyboard. It loses 1 star for this. If you play piano or a high end digital piano (I play a Kawai MP6), you will be disappointed with the CD's keyboard sound.
Verdict:
I noticed that one reviewer rated this book one star because it covered rock 'n' roll in chapter 5. The fact is that boogie woogie evolved into rock 'n' roll. Watch Jerry Lee Lewis or Fats Domino's left hand, and you'll see the influence of the boogie woogie. If you like boogie woogie, be sure to check out it's ancestors: stride piano, dixieland piano and ragtime piano. ;-)

Awesome Book!!!

I've only been playing piano for 3 1/2 years, and I needed something to help me cross the bridge between classical and jazz music. I'm so glad that I found this book! It's very easy to understand. The CD that's included is also really helpful. And it doesn't just stop at boogie woogie. Some of the riffs reminded me of early blues and rock and roll. I'd highly recommend this book to both amateurs and professionals.

Waste of money, Most of examples are on organ...most of the
stuff is rock and roll not boogie woogie...I've seen and heard
boogie woogie and this is far from what I was expecting...
