Probably the best book yet published for dog-ethologists and students. An international foundation for future research.

Among US ethical critics invited to review work by others than themselves, it was agreed that books should only be considered for their success or weaknesses within the intentions of the author.
On that basis, within your purpose of writing to assist and guide other dog-ethologist and students as yet I have found no weaknesses. In many respects the 2nd edition is a considerable advance over the scope and "maturity" of its predecessor. Within my knowledge the 2nd edition deserves to be the foundation of further international progress in the subject areas.

This is a wonderful compilation of research studies. Well organized, articulate, and comprehensive. As a textbook it is not dry reading. It is not a pop-culture, MLA-style book, but well worth your time for anyone who wants to learn about canines.

A must read

This book is an encyclopedia of knowledge, well-written and well-organized. I highly recommend it for all people interested in the behavior of dogs and some of their wild relatives. While "academic" in some ways, this books is also readable for people who are not members of the ivory tower community. Each time I go to it I'm amazed by its breadth and the care with which Dr. Miklosi covers numerous diverse topics. All in all, simply outstanding.
