Medieval rogues

These books are very enjoyable. I found them filled with suspense, the plot was so well written that I was whisk back to that era. I could smell the herbs they spoke of as well as seeing the cold metal of their weapons. I highly recommend these books.

Fabulous!

This was my first experience with Catherine Kean, but it won't be the last! I loved this set - so well written, and the plots moved quickly and kept me on the edge of the couch. The characters are likeable and you care what happens to them.

My Lady's Treasure was my favorite, although they were all good. I couldn't put it down!

Now I'm off to buy some more of Kean's stories. SOOOO worth the price, and more!

Entertaining

This is an interesting compilation of stories by Catherine Kean that has a great deal of suspense, action, mystery and romance. I only gave the compilation 4 stars instead of 5 because the 2nd book in the series - MY LADY’S TREASURE - had a really weak, whinny and overly naive heroine. It came to the point where I just wanted to reach through the pages and throttle her through the book - she was really that irritating.

The third and last in the series - BOUND BY HIS KISS - more than made up for that disappointing heroine from the last book. The one here - Lady Miranda de Vornay - was a more interesting character, besides being more intelligent, savvy and tactical. You won't be disappointed with her because she definitely knew what she wanted and went after it!

And of course, the first book in the series - A KNIGHT’S VENGEANCE - was fairly entertaining. It was a roller coaster ride of emotions, right into redemption for the sexy knight in this story - Geoffrey de Lanceau. It's good to see him redeemed in the end for the false accusation against his father for being a traitor. It was also good to see Lady Elizabeth Brackendale see the good in Geoffrey and defend him against her father in the end.

Overall, I thought the books were greatly entertaining, except maybe a little bit for MY LADY’S TREASURE. These are short stories that will thrill the reader from beginning to end.

Loved this study guide

Loved this study guide. Took the test once before and just missed the passing grade. Using this book to study and already feel more confident then I did before taking the test the first time. Organized and simple to read. Covers every topic to the fullest. Would recommend for anyone studying for the CSCS exam.

Beautiful world but I was expecting more

I was inspired to read The King’s Harem after reading and absolutely loving The Harem Master, which is book three in this series. However, I can’t say that my experience with this book was all together positive. First of all, there was a main story which covered half the book and then there were three additional short stories that took place in the same world. The main story was about how the different members of the harem came to be part of the king’s harem.

I liked this story mostly for the beautiful harem men and the sweetness of their polyamorous relationship. However, the story switched back and forth between past and present and shared the viewpoints of so many different characters that I found it difficult the follow. There also appeared to be no intrigue and no story arch. It was mostly a recounting of each man’s route to the king’s heart. Though I loved the world building, I had difficulty connecting with the characters individually. There also didn’t appear to be any strong romance between the men and sex was completely absent.

In addition to this main story, the other tale that stood out in my mind was The Jewel of Tavamara. In this story Fahima finds herself in the position of marrying the king, which was something she never expected. Though she is in love with the king, it feels like he is marrying her out of convenience. She suffers because he doesn’t appear to love her back. In addition to this story was Everything You Need which was the second M/F story in the book. The last story was Knight to Rook, which was M/M romance and was actually quite sexy.

Overall, I loved the world building and detailed description which made the characters seem very real. However, I was disappointed with the lukewarm romance between the harem men and wished there was more to the plot. As a side note, after finishing this book, I read more on the Tavamara Series and found out that other readers recommend reading Sandstorm first, which is listed as book two.
